Terms of play

Hot Takes FC is a private prediction game about football, played between friends with virtual points. You join a league by invite, you put up takes, your league prices them, and real match results settle them. That is the whole product. The full mechanics live in the rulebook.

Points cannot be bought, sold, transferred between players or cashed out. Nothing goes in and nothing comes out: there is no deposit, no withdrawal, and no prize with any monetary value.

The game borrows the shape of betting (odds, stakes, a house that pays the winners) because that shape is fun to play. It is not gambling, and we will not turn it into gambling. The only thing at stake is bragging rights.

The game is built around odds and stakes, so we keep it to adults. By creating an account you confirm you are at least 18. If we learn that an account belongs to someone younger, we will close it.

Accounts are created through a league invite link; there is no open signup. Keep your login details to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account, including the display name you pick, which everyone in your leagues can see.

This is a game between friends, and it has a chat. Do not post anything illegal, hateful, threatening or harassing. Do not impersonate anyone. Do not attack, scrape, overload or reverse engineer the service, and do not use anyone else's account.

We can suspend or remove an account that does any of that. We will give you a plain reason, and that is as formal as this gets.

Hot Takes FC is early software, run for fun. It may be unavailable, slow, or occasionally wrong. Features change without notice.

Before the first full season we will reset the game so everyone starts level: beta leagues, balances, ledgers and trophies get wiped. We will say so in advance. Nothing of value is lost, because nothing here has monetary value in the first place.

Takes settle automatically from third-party football data. That data is sometimes late, incomplete or wrong. We may correct a settlement that was clearly mistaken, and takes are voided when a match is postponed or abandoned, exactly as the rulebook describes.

We are not responsible for a result a data provider got wrong, beyond fixing it in the game when we can.

Email oscartkemp@gmail.com and we will erase your account within 30 days. No forms, no hoops. Your login, your name and your messages go; your old takes and quotes stay in your leagues' records with your name stripped out, because your friends' results are built on them. The privacy page sets out exactly what goes and what stays.

The service is provided as it is, for entertainment, with no guarantee of availability or accuracy. So far as the law allows, we are not liable for loss arising from your use of it. Since nothing here carries monetary value, there is nothing to lose but time and pride.

Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under Danish consumer law.

Hot Takes FC is run by Oscar Kemp in Denmark. If these terms change in a way that matters, we will update the date at the top of this page. They are governed by Danish law, and any dispute belongs to the Danish courts.
